Rock Creek Forest is a close-in MD suburb that borders the Washington, DC city limits (the “District Line”) and straddles Grubb Road, the divider between Chevy Chase and Silver Spring.  Its larger part with almost 1,000 households — about 650 of them in single family homes — you will find on the Chevy Chase side, roughly bordered by Rock Creek Park with the stables and Candy Cane city to the West and South, the Capital Crescent trail to the North, Colonial Village (DC) to the South-East, and Silver Spring, MD, to the North-East.

The Rock Creek Shopping Center on Grubb Road with the legendary Parkway Deli and the celebrated modern American cuisine restaurant and gallery Red Dog Cafe, the popular food Co-Op, a bike store as well as a neighborhood sports club and half a dozen other stores doubles as one of the neighborhood’s social hubs.

Rock Creek Forest has access to two of the areas major hiker/biker trails: the Rock Creek Trail from Downtown to Lake Needwood in far-out Montgomery County and the Capital Crescent Trail that leads to Georgetown (via downtown Bethesda).

RCF is in the boundaries of the acclaimed BCC school cluster. The Rock Creek Forest Elementary School with its large green park offers a (by lottery only) Spanish immersion program.

There is a popular neighborhood pool and tennis club on beautiful park-like grounds, as well as a veterinary clinic, an Asian healing arts practioner and a dental office, two synagogues and several churches.

Ride-On bus service through the neighborhood connects to either the Silver Spring or Bethesda Metro stations (both on different ends of the Red Line). Some more energetic neighbors walk to Metro or the Downtown-DC-bound busses on 16th Street.
